What Level is it?: Anyone can give it a go, however we will be aiming it to these levels: Improvers, Intermediate to Advanced

What is a shine? a shine is simply when you break away from your dance partner and do footwork to a section of the music.

Learn a Salsa shine dance pattern, this will be like a mini routine and it will show you how to fit footwork into salsa music.

Partners?: No partner is needed, this is footwork only.

TO SHINE…OR NOT TO SHINE…?
Shines are a vital and exciting element within Salsa. When we first start salsa most of us have to get used to the whole ‘partner’ idea, which at first seems to be a strange ‘invasion of space’; After a while, we get so ‘comfortable’ with simply holding hands and tying and untying knots, that the thought of letting go and ‘shining’ on our own becomes quite confronting. We don’t know what to do with our feet or our bodies, and the shapings and ‘moods’ of some steps may be a little unfamiliar at first. However shines are really liberating! It allows the leader and follower equal possession and enjoyment of the song, without breaking the ‘partnership’ bond. To avoid them is missing out on half the experience of salsa. Shines
should not overtake the dance, but it is an exciting break in patterns to watch and is great fun to do.

What are workshops? These are usually one off or a very short series of specialised classes aimed at certain levels.
