INSTRUCTOR PROFILE - CSABA SZIRMAIL

Csaba Szirmai
Csaba & Vali are Australia's newest and hottest couple. Having only danced together for 6 months they have 20 years of dance experience between them ranging from Salsa, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Jazz, Contemporary and Ballet.

We profile CSABA SZIRMAI in this newsletter... Csaba, Hungerian born and now Australia resident.

In 1997 Csaba made his first appearance on the international stage and achieved seventh place in the World and was ranked fourth in the European Championship after winning the Hungarian Mambo Championships. After moving to Australia in 1998 he achieved Australian group Hip Hop Championship title (FISAF) and became one of the lead teachers at Sydney Dance Company, McDonald College, ED5, Brent Street and many well respected dance studios across NSW. During the next few years he traveled overseas on many occasions to teach and choreograph in the USA - Los Angeles Millennium D.C., and New York Broadway D.C.

In 2002 he was asked to join the American tour of the musical 'Burn the Floor'. At the concluson of this he returned to Australia to hit the competition dance floors.

Csaba appeared in many television shows, he won ABC's 'Strictly Dancing 2' grand final; as well as partnering Katrina Warren in 'Dancing with the Stars' on Channel 7. The following year he returned to Channel 7 with new partner Shane Gould - 'Dancing with the Stars 2'. He also choreographed Chingy's new show for the first 'Australian Video Music Awards' on MTV.

The next few years saw Csaba being asked back to be part of Dancing With the Stars and partner Amanda Keller, Naomi Robson and finally in Corinne Grant. In 2007 he traveled to New Zealand to dance on the TV1's version of Dancing With The Stars partnering April Ieremia.

In 2008 Csaba returned to the competition floor again and won the NSW #1 salsa title with Vali Damaskou. They have already been chosen to represent Australia at the 2008 New Zealand Pacific Salsa Congress and Malaysian Salsa Festival. This great couple has a bright future, they will represent Australia in the World Salsa Championships in Orlando late December 2008. They are currently teaching and represent Latin Motion Dance Academy - Sydney, Australia's most successful Latin Dance Academy.

ENTRY CRITERIA: NO charge. Open to All FULL Weekend Pass Participants

RULES OF THE COMPETITION:
1. Enter by completing the J&J ENTRY FORM at The Registration Desk.
2. We are seeking up to 15 couples.
3. All names will be placed in a hat, and drawn at random (1 male and 1 female). These couples will compete in the 1st Round.
4. All couples will dance together to 1 full song.
5. Winning couple(s) are chosen purely on audience applause. The Audience is the JUDGE.
6. Competing couples will be reduced by ½ (half) at the end of the first song.
7. Names are re-drawn from the remaining competitors to establish couples for the 2nd Round
8. Couples will dance together for another full song.
9. 4 (four) couples will be chosen for the Finals
10. Names are re-drawn to establish couples
11. Couples will dance together for another full song.
12. Again - The Winning Couple is chosen purely on audience applause. The Audience is the JUDGE.
