Social Night 8pm-12am- Join us for a Hot Salsa Night at The Twisted Hop - upstairs, down poplar Lane. Great venue with fantastic wooden floors, nice sized space upstairs with balcony and awesome sound system to dance all night to. Come down and have a look, a drink and have a dance! Anyone can come, this night is for everybody at all levels, dancers and non-dancers we have a free dance class to get you started...

Free Salsa Class - 8:30pm (45min-1hr) Free Salsa Dance class for all levels. Great for beginners who want to try out Latin Dancing before joining a Salsa Course at our studio or good for all levels. Learn an easy move we don't teach in classes. Everyone welcome, No need to enrol, just turn up and join in. (this time around with Reuben & Yonatan teaching 2 levels at the same time, for beginners & improvers & intermediate) come down and check it out!)

Hip Hop Dance Classes for Beginners

• Free 1st Class • Course Length: 6 weeks • Join in anytime • Price: $10 per class • Level: Beginner, no experience needed • All ages

Hip Hop Classes: for all ages, come learn how to hit the beat and move to the music. You will learn sets of choreography that will use various elements of hip hop dancing, which include waving, body rolls and gliding etc. After breaking down the choreography part by part it will be put together to form a smooth, beat hitting set.
Levels: Once you have finished the beginners level you can progress to the next level, new levels and details to come

Learn to dance Argentine Tango, Tango Classes Argentine Tango is a beautiful Latin dance that originated in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is a lead and follow dance and is often described as 'walking with a partner and the music'.

Beginners Tango Level: In our Beginners course you will learn the basics steps of Argentine Tango. Also you will begin to work on some fundamental techniques such as footwork, balance and rhythm. This course has been designed especially for people who have never danced Tango before. The Beginners Tango courses are designed to be fun & friendly, so don't worry if you have had no dance experience before. These offer a great opportunity to meet new people, increase you fitness and flexibility, and act as a stepping stone to our Next levels in Tango.

Intermediate Tango - NEW Courses Starting Soon: • Saturday 29th May 12:00pm
Intermediate Tango Level: Once you have completed the Beginners course you can continue onto the Intermediate Level. You will learn specific Tango dance moves such as Giros (turns), Gancho (hooks), Sacada (displacement) and many more. Also we will continue to improve your technique, footwork, musicality, balance and rhythm.

Contemporary Dance Classes: Contemporary dance is a genre of concert dance that employs systems and methods found in modern dance and postmodern dance, as well as classical ballet. What is Zouk? It's another fun Latin Dance that originates from Brazil with french influence, it's a relative of Lambada and is sometimes called Zouk Lambada.

Take your dancing to a new level & join our Salsa team! With the New Zealand Salsa Representatives 2009-2010....

Train with some of the best salsa dancers in New Zealand to perform or to learn about how to perform and learn a salsa routine which will develop your salsa tremendously! Learn and have the oppertunity to perform and compete in Salsa competitions, Congresses and more, with Salsa Sabrosa. We are always on the look out for new dance partners male & female. Must be keen to take it a level further into couple competition & and possibly train to teach.

Level You will need to know some salsa, but not essential if you have done form of dance training in the past.

Benefits: • Become part of a salsa team that is social and fun to be in. • Get trained to a high standard - you will look great on the social dancer floor and performing. • Learn the tips and tricks, big moves 'arials' that we don't teach in our salsa classes. • Improve your fitness and confidence.

About the Auditioning: • We will be running auditions as we would run a salsa class but with a close watch. • A combo from a routine will be demonstrated and we may partner you with someone and swap partners.... full info here>

What is a shine? a shine is simply when you break away from your dance partner and do footwork to the Mambo section of the music. Or for performers 'facing the audience'.
TO SHINE…OR NOT TO SHINE…? Shines are a vital and exciting element within Salsa. When we first start salsa most of us have to get used to the whole ‘partner’ idea, which at first seems to be a strange ‘invasion of space’; After a while, we get so ‘comfortable’ with simply holding hands and tying and untying knots, that the thought of letting go and ‘shining’ on our own becomes quite confronting. We don’t know what to do with our feet or our bodies, and the shapings and ‘moods’ of some steps may be a little unfamiliar at first. However shines are really liberating! It allows the leader and follower equal possession and enjoyment of the song, without breaking the ‘partnership’ bond. To avoid them is missing out on half the experience of salsa. Shines should not overtake the dance, but it is an exciting break in patterns to watch and is great fun to do.
What Level is it?: Anyone can give it a go, however we will be aiming it to these levels: Improvers, Intermediate & beyond.
Learn a Salsa shine dance pattern, this will be like a mini routine each week and it will show you how to fit footwork into salsa music.
On1 & On2? You will be learning how to dance shines On1 & then On2 conversions.
Partners?: No partner is needed, this is footwork only. This workshop is for Men & Ladies!
